Kolkata Metro Railway recorded 21.81 crore passengers in the financial year 2024-25, marking a 13.3% increase from 19.25 crore in 2023-24. The busiest corridor, the Blue Line (Dakshineswar to New Garia), carried 18.93 crore passengers, reflecting a 5.51% rise from 17.94 crore in the previous year. The Green Line-2 (Howrah Maidan to Esplanade), which began operations in March 2023, saw 1.39 crore passengers, while the Green Line-1 (Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector 5) recorded 1.41 crore, a 15.57% increase from 1.22 crore in 2023-24.

The Orange Line (Kavi Subhash to Hemanta Mukherjee) saw 5.92 lakh passengers in the last financial year. The consistent rise in ridership across corridors highlights increased metro usage in Kolkata, with newer lines contributing to passenger numbers.
The total ridership growth aligns with metro expansion efforts, with newly operational corridors adding to overall numbers. Kolkata Metro has seen sustained year-on-year growth, with authorities planning further extensions to improve connectivity. Expansion projects include additional stretches on existing lines and new routes, which are expected to increase passenger movement across the city.
